Stand In Truth

I’ve heard from some people who are dismayed at some of the social media posts I have made. They tell me that I’m focusing on the negative. Instead I should be affirming and envisioning, meditating and praying for peace, love and harmony.

I’m all for peace, love and harmony. Those are the “Big 3” of my life. I spent the last twenty plus months maintaining a sense of peace while others flung about the most egregious false info and unsubstantiated opinions. I loved friends and family members through some of the terribly rotten things that were filling their minds, hoping that the universe would come into harmony with truth, justice and the universal way.

Then the US presidential election happened and a man who had perpetuated one of the biggest, most outrageous lies ever was elected. Not only that, but he seems not to know how to tell the truth.

So, I made a decision. I’m going to hold things like peace, love and harmony as the sacred treasures they are to me. And from that place, I’m going to stand for truth.

Standing in truth is not easy. Especially not with all the aggressive trolls ready to pounce at you on social media with their “is not is too” approach.

But it was said long ago that truth is like a sword. Truth cuts through what is unlike itself. And there’s a whole lot of stuff unlike truth going on in our country today.

Yes, there are a lot of lies and false information coming from the White House and other areas of government. And that’s troubling. But what’s even more heartbreaking is that there are many people who don’t recognize the truth, universal truth that is. And there are people who are basing their lives on a convoluted and damaging worldview that’s been taught to them by people who claim to possess the truth.

But truth transcends opinion. Truth goes way beyond personality contests – the “I like him. I don’t like her” kind of thing. It cuts through the ego constructs, the physical/material BS that is so near and dear to us. If you’re attached to stuff like that, then truth is going to hurt and you’re going to scream and kick at it. But if you’re willing to let go of all that denseness, then the truth will set you free.

Because truth is universal. Everyone around the world who has ever lived and ever will live knows universal truth. It’s written on each of our hearts. We don’t need an ideology, book or dogma to teach universal truths to us. They are a part of who we are. When we get quiet enough, we can hear them. We remember them. They resonate with us and we resonate with them.

What are some of these universal truths? Things like love, beauty, respect, peace, honor, and harmony.

These kinds of things are sacred to me.

If you feel the same way, I hope you’ll join me.

The world needs you.
Stand in truth.
